God Sends Help for the Journey
One of the most mysterious aspects about Christianity is the Holy Spirit. When I was growing up we would say, the "Holy Ghost." The other two persons of the Holy Trinity we sort of "get." Father and Son - we have apt analogies of this in the real world" But the Holy Ghost? To make matters more mysterious, the church is really divided on what the Holy Spirit does. For instance, does the Holy Spirit make us all talk in tongues? Do some of us have more of the Holy Spirit than others? Is there a "second blessing," which we need to have so that we actually get more of the Holy Spirit? Or are we to just live as if the Holy Spirit doesn't even exist? All good questions.Jesus told his disciples to wait in Jerusalem because he was sending the Holy Spirit and it was essential they received his presence before they began their ministry. So what ever the Holy Spirit does in the life of a believer it is essential and we can't make out as if he doesn't exist. So this Sunday, we will look at the coming of the Holy Spirit and his role in the life of the believer. Like the Resurrection, it is a game changing moment for believers in Jesus!Blessings,James M. Holland
