Worthy of the Gospel - Together
It is a busy weekend around St. Patrick. In just a few hours, ministers from all around our geographic area will descend upon our church to meet, deliberate, feast, meet some more, feast some more, and finally adjourn and all go home to be back in their local parishes on Sunday. It is mind boggling how much work is involved. So let me say a special thanks to our staff at St. Patrick and to all the volunteers who will no doubt show all my preacher friends a real good time.On Sunday, we will be looking again at the book of Philippians. One of the main things that struck me as I was pondering this passage was that when Paul says we are to "live a life worthy of the gospel," he leaves no doubt that a life worthy of the gospel is only possible when that life is lived out in deep community with other people. The bottom line is this, “we do the Christian life with people.”Paul says when we are part of a community of believers, “the church,” and when we are striving together in mission and in service to each other, it actually brings heaven down to earth. Yes, he did say that, he says “we are a sign.” That is utterly amazing to me. Hope you will join us Sunday as we explore what this means to each of us.Blessings,James M. Holland
