Heaven Breaks Through

Jesus being baptized? What is that all about? I mean, seriously: baptism implies the need to repent. John the Baptist sees this, and questions Jesus as to why he, of all people, would need to be baptized. This account brings us back into the flow of The Story of God, our current series, after taking a six-week break to discuss generosity. That is not all we will be talking about this Sunday, however. Many of our children will be making professions of faith, and several will also be baptized. We will also have a brief update on where we are with our Thriving Generosity Initiative. Furthermore, David DePriest, who recently spent a weekend in Parchman State Penitentiary, will be share with us about his experience there. No, he was not there as an inmate, for those of you thinking that! Rather, he was there with Kairos Prison Ministry, proclaiming, as Jesus said, "Good news to the prisoners!"I can tell it is May; I don't know about you, but my calendar is already full. So I encourage you, because your life is so busy and full, to take time to rest and worship with the people of God. We all need to be reminded of the "good news" of the gospel!Blessings,Jim
