Ten Ways to Be Perfect
It might seem ironic to follow up a sermon on generosity with the Ten Commandments, but if you think about it, the Ten Commandments are a natural follow-up: a generous God tells his people how reality works, and thus how they can thrive in the good world he created. If that sounds odd to you, you are not alone. Most people I know, including most Christians, tend to look at the Ten Commandments as a negation. They really believe that because God forbids certain things, he must be holding out on them, or he really doesn't want them to be happy. (Sounds like what Adam and Eve thought, doesn't it?)Really? What if I told you that God gave us a law so good things could run wild and thrive? What if I told you that God gave us a law not to steal our joy, but to enhance it, and to make us into a people who enjoyed his blessings, and in turn, shared those blessings with the world? Sound shocking? Well, Sunday I will tell you just that!Hope you can join us.
